Substandard work. Warranty useless not worth paper written on.
J&W Collision in McMinnville Oregon ruined my vehicle with less than an Earl Schwab quality paint job. Poorly aligned parts and dangerously loose not tightened body to frame parts.
Have proof from other shops but they refuse to do anything about it. Corporate says the only option is to take it back to them and Chris the one who turned a $3000 repair estimate into a $8000 repair by admitting accidentally she says causing additional damage to the vehicle. Horrendously substandard poor quality work.
This was a good shop when Brian owned it. I have no confidence in Carstar and would recommend any body shop over them.

My insurance company, Allstate, referred me to CarStar. Within two weeks of waiting for my appointment for the estimate for repair, they said that the job would take only 16 hours, and then they needed the car for one week.
Instead, they kept the vehicle for three weeks. Furthermore, I was notified by CarStar that there was no deductible because it was not my fault. Then, in the three weeks whenever I showed up for a pickup, they released the vehicle and gave me a car key. They told me that I needed to pay a $500 deductible fee, which I declined, and told them that one of the CarStar assistants had called me and told me that there was no deductible and everything was figured out.
Therefore, at the time of pickup, they notified me that I needed to pay a $500 deductible fee, which I had refused. Then they started keeping me there against my will; I was forced to call the police. The police officer showed up fairly quickly, and then he took the side of CarStar and told me that he was going to arrest my son and myself for theft. I explained to the police that it was not a criminal code matter but instead just a simple civil matter.
Guess what? The police forced me to pay the deductible, which I should not have paid; I still did. Then I left the shop, and before I reached home, which is a fairly small town, Airdrie, AB, within 57 minutes, I received a phone call from the same officer. He told me that I was right and did not have to pay the deductible, that they received a call from insurance and they were to reimburse me back.
Moreover, I texted the police officer under which piece of legislation/criminal law he wanted to arrest my son and myself.
That was exactly what the officer texted to me: 'Willfully leaving the premises and refusing to pay for services rendered is theft included in the criminal code.' After that, I understood that it was completely pointless to continue on! Ladies and gentlemen, please read the reviews and do not make the same mistakes as I did.

The Hyundai dealership covered the damage under warranty though the TD Insurance Auto Center (Carstar) was clearly at fault. Both TD Insurance and the Auto Center have not taken any responsibility.
Carstar Bayer's Lake had my car for 3 weeks doing some body work as a result of an accident that was not my fault. I've had this Hyundai Kona EV for 2.5 years and bought it brand new. During those 2.5 years, I never had any issues with the charging port. Immediately after getting the car back from Carstar, my charger got stuck in the charging port and would not release.
Carstar sent a mechanic out to release it, but he used excessive force both in getting the charger out (didn't work) and then yanking aggressively on the override release cable. It finally released, but this is not normal. Bringing it to the Hyundai dealership confirmed that the actuator was seized and the override release cable had excessive play, all things that only showed up after Carstar had the car. The chances of this happening randomly, without Carstar's fault, are 0.000123% and do not include the tiny chance of these parts failing spontaneously.
Even so, Carstar does not take responsibility for the costs of repair or my rental. I am furious!
It claims this is normal wear and tear despite Hyundai calling this a rare repair and the car only being 2.5 years old. This is an unethical, horribly run business, and I will certainly be taking them to court.

The clear coat peeled off everthing they worked on. the front fender had a rust hole.the back door had rust all on the bottom of the door. Clear coat peeling off front bumper passenger door.again only rust of the hole vehicle!
They told me it was rock chips is why the clear coat is peeling. I said why is it not peeling on the rest of the vehicle.I showed them meany rock chips with no pealing.
after fighting for years they agreed to fix it finally and they broke our back video repairing the door now our window wont work and there saying it was like that when it went in and it definitely was not. no one looked at our vehicle when we dropped it off.
my kids sit back there everday and Im sure it worked! We are very unhappy with carstar!

I took my truck to Carstar on Henderson for hail damage repair. They told me the repair would take a week and a half.
Over five weeks later, I finally got my truck back. While it was there, the passenger's rear door got damaged. I was never notified about it getting damaged there. They tried to hide it by repainting the door, which was very obvious.
The quality of the paint job was so poor you could see dust and runs on the door. They also tried repairing the hood. When they finished with it, again, the paint job on the hood was horrible, full of dust and imperfections. It also still had dents in it.
In their infinite wisdom, they decided to park my truck outside on Halloween night, and the passenger's door front window got broken. Again, they never notified me about it. The only reason I found out is because I kept continuously phoning them to see when my truck would be ready. Anytime I asked about the status of my truck, there was always some sort of excuse as to why it was not done.
They never called me once to inform me of any delays. There is zero communication from that store. In order to get my hood repaired the second time, I had to file a complaint with MPI to get them to redo it. It hasn't gone in for the second time yet, so I don’t know if this repair is going to be any better than their first attempt.
I have also filed a claim in the small claims court regarding the repair for the back door. When I finally picked up my truck, there was still broken glass underneath the seats and on the rear seat from the broken window. They were also supposed to replace the front windshield, which I had to remind them three times for them to do it. My advice to anybody thinking about going there, don't.
It will probably be one of the biggest mistakes in your life. I have been in the service industry my entire life and this, by far, is the poorest customer service I have ever received. If you read any of the previous reviews, most customers are very dissatisfied.
The common response to the reviews is to call them so they can address matters. I can tell you already that this is a waste of your time.

Bad job for repair
We left our car for repair under mpi claim it was hit and run while it was parked and the there was a slight damage on the driver side
We booked it for repair at Car star St James the day we took it we went to Costco right away but when we were parking we noticed that the back up camera was not working so we immediately called them back and went back
Note that before we left it there it was working fine the back up camera
When we got there they said they are going to run diagnostics and that they did not touch the back part of the car
So i got a bit annoyed and explained to them that it was working fine before we left it for repair
My husband pointed out too that whoever moved our car the day we left it they would have noticed that that the back up camera was working but they said they dont check those kind
Looking back we had our repairs done there before and all had minor issues
One time they had to go to our house to fix it because it was just a minor thing
Another time the connector for the sprayer of windshield washer wasnt properly connected so we had to go back to fix it
Another time the side mirror was kinda loose
Everytime we had to go back to have it fixed again
Beware , lesson learned here to document or video tape what is working before you leave your car there to have evidence
Will not be coming back there for repairs

This is the worst shop! They are not honest, have poor communication, and even worse repair service. I have spent 3 months waiting for my vehicle to be resolved after a tree fell on it. They initiated repairs on the vehicle before contacting my insurance. My insurance called me shortly after the tree fell to total my car, we got on the phone with the shop and they informed us it was being repaired already and hadnt gone over threshold in their computers. This vehicle was totaled and they were trying their best to make a quick $ off of my insurance. While trying to give me back a vehicle what wasnt properly repaired or even detailed. It had tree damage, new damage from being in their shop, and was still full of glass shards when they gave it back to me. They lied about repairs being denied by my insurance & made repairs that they did not document in the estimate, in a suspected effort to keep the vehicle from being totaled while still making their money. Bird *** was on the leather of my back seat. My vehicle was left open to the elements long enough for a bird to *** in it. They told me this vehicle had a detail appointment 2 days prior to me picking it up, but the glass, bird *** and crumbs from my toddler prove otherwise. When I left with the vehicle part of my roof rail flew off going down the road. It wasnt even assembled properly. There was clearly never a quality check performed after it was specifically asked for.
I TOOK MY CAR FOR A SECOND OPINION AND $7000 worth of more damage was discovered by the second shop.
Had I been naïve or desperate for my vehicle back they would have been able to take advantage of me.
Carstar at Reeder Chevrolet is dishonest with no regard for their customers satisfaction or safety.

Carstar took from December 17th until January 7th to submit an estimate to the adjuster. It took two months to get my car repaired and all the manager could say was, 'Enjoy your rental car.' After using up my insurance allotment, I spent another $3800 on car rentals.
Then, when I picked up my car, it had no gas in it. It didn't even register as having anything. The manager said that was my problem. Then, the manager bragged about getting a discount on parts that he did not pass on to the insurance company.
The manager was rude and hostile, blaming everyone for his poor service and length of repair time.
Carstar Guelph is under new management. Don't go there unless you want to get ripped off and mistreated as a customer.

They were pushing my vehicle everywhere because they didnt know what they were doing. They let my battery run out. They cut my wires And said they were cut before. I dont think so.
They did not put the sticker back on the side of my truck they suck.

I took my car into the carstar in NE Calgary to get a quote for minor body repairs. I would be paying for the damages out of pocket as there was no insurance quote.
My appointment was at the end of October 2024.
After not hearing anything for 2 weeks I followed up with a call and told someone would contact me shortly.
I still havent heard anything from carstar. Very poor customer service.

Vehicle was repainted a third time and returned with more damage. I will complain loudly from the rooftop about Chilton Carstar for the rest of my lifetime. They are the absolute worst repair experience in my 41 years of driving.
Hire skilled employees that care about doing quality repairs. Inspect the repairs that were done before contacting the customer.
